The
KICKER Loudspeaker
An
inside look at the incredible array of design and performance features that make
KICKER the first name in bass-the most musical, most dependable subwoofers you
can choose for your system.
Special
Features
Rigid
speaker frame
(cast aluminum on Solo-Baric and XPL, steel on Competition and Freeair) provides
precision alignment and dependable motor structure support.
One-piece
extended pole,
a Stillwater Designs innovation, creates broad, symmetrical magnetic field for
superior power handling, precise voice coil control, and very low deep bass
distortion. Venting in the pole piece eliminates noise and distortion caused by
huge amounts of airflow created by cone excursion.
UniPlateTM
construction
combines backplate and extended pole piece in single unit to maximize magnetic
efficiency and minimize alignment problems often caused by common two-piece
construction.
Black
plating
on Uniplate and top plate provides maximum heat dissipation for cool operation
and extended voice coil life.
Deep
bumped back plate
lets voice coil reach maximum excursion without bottoming-out.
Advanced
cone materials
with superior internal damping mean ultra-fast transient response and super-low
distortion. Cone is also very resistant to environmental extremes.
Inverted
Structural Dome (ISD) ,
a KICKER exclusive, replaces conventional dustcap and locks into cone for
unmatched structural integrity and greatly reduced cone flexing/resonance.
Tough,
flexible surround
with long-throw, positive-roll design controls extreme cone excursions and is
highly tear-resistant.
Double-stitched
attachment
makes separation between reinforced cone edge and heavy-duty surround virtually
impossible.
Multi-layer
voice coil
and Kapton(R) former create superior magnetic field and effectively dissipate
heat.
Double
apex coil/cone attachment
prevents separation.
Durable
resin-impregnated poly-cotton spider
provides precise coil alignment and critical cone motion control.
Heavy-duty
terminals
with built-in strain relief prevent speaker lead breakage and improve flex life
of the high-power leads.
Rubberized
boot
protects massive magnet structure from chipping or breaking.
Front
and rear gaskets
insure an airtight seal.

(L7-series)
The
Solo-Baric is the supreme subwoofer from the biggest name in bass. KICKER's
ultimate statement on just how great sounding-and great looking-a subwoofer can
be. The original Solo-Baric was a landmark breakthrough in subwoofer
technology-a single driver that delivered all the performance advantages of a
pair of subs in an isobaric enclosure for bass never before available. For 1998,
KICKER introduces the new d-series Solo-Barics-the fourth generation in
Solo-Baric technology.
The
original "small box subwoofer", the Solo-Baric cranks out the biggest
bass in the business from enclosures only half the size needed by regular subs.
The fifteen-inch Solo-Baric S15d produces heart-stopping bass from an enclosure
of only 1.5 cubic feet-and the eight-inch S8d slams like crazy in a tiny 0.33
cubic foot box! Other people can talk "small-box" all they want-but
Solo-Baric was here first, with the most.
The
d-series Solo-Baric features a new Hemispherical Cone. It's KICKER's most
distortion-resistant cone design yet, ultra-rigid even at volume levels that
would tear common cones to shreds. The Solo-Baric gives you one of the most
massive moving structures in speaker design history without sacrificing the
ultra-low distortion and lightning-fast transient response essential for
critical bass reproduction.
Solo-Baric's
cast aluminum basket and super durable suspension system provide rock-solid
support. Integral Perimeter Venting keeps everything cool, even when the music
is smokin'.

XPL
Subwoofer (C-series)

(C-series)
Totally
re-engineered for 1998, the new XPL is the most extreme subwoofer ever created
by Stillwater Designs.
Think
of it as a "Super Competition"-more power handling, longer voice coil,
greater cone excursion, cast aluminum basket-with the new XPL you get all the
super low bass response of our world famous Competition subs plus a whole lot
more from a 20 to 30% smaller enclosure!
This
year's XPLs are built on the same massive cast aluminum basket as the KICKER
Solo-Baric, with the same Perimeter Venting cooling system for the driver's
motor structure and heavy-duty push terminals for solid connections to larger
gauge speaker wire.
Increased
excursion means the XPL can move huge amounts of air for huge amounts of SPL.
The extra-length two-layer, round wire voice coil has plenty of room to travel,
thanks to a deeply bumped backplate and beefed-up suspension. The cone is beefed
up, too-heavier, more rigid, and incorporating KICKER's famous Inverted
Structural Dome-designed to move massive air without flexing under pressure.

World
champion competitors, award-winning car audio system designers, and music lovers
everywhere know that when you want serious bass you can count on KICKER. Radical
looks. Revolutionary performance and durability. And, of course, that deep-down
unmistakable rumble that can only mean one thing-Kicker subs are in the house!
Kicker
Competition subs defined how car audio bass should sound. If you've gotta have
the deep, intense bass sound of sealed enclosures, you've gotta have the
Competition-the woofer that made Stillwater famous.
Kicker
Freeair is the original Freeair subwoofer-the first high performance sub
designed to pound out low, tight bass without a box. If you lack the space or
budget to build enclosures, these are your subs. Freeair woofers also produce
slamming bass from a vented box.
This
year's Competition and Freeair drivers are the best looking, best sounding, and
most reliable yet-and, given their heritage, that says a lot.

Kicker
Impulse Subwoofers feature Kicker's exclusive Inverted Structural Dome
technology , massive magnets, high-temp 4-layer extended-length voice coils with
Kapton formers, super-stiff polymineral cones with stitched cone surrounds,
